Pickens Station April 14/63
His Excelly. J. J. Pettus
Gov.

I have the honor to report that your Special order No. 30 requiring a detail of Ten Men another a Lietuenant to arrest deserters in Madison County was received on this 1st April

I have executed the Order in Person. Taking with me fifteen men. I return here with a list of deserters names which accompanied your orders showing the disposition made of them

It will be seen that many of them are sick and could not be removed of [these?] I exacted a pledge to Return to their Command as soon as they were able requiring at the same time a certificate of the Surgeon at Canton to their immediate disability

I arrested Several deserters not found in the list which we are Sent under guard to Hd. Qrs. of their respective regiment

It is proper to State that many of my company acting upon the presumption that we were disbanded had taken other Service before I received your Order & I found it troublesome to get enough together to execute the order.

you will please disband the company

Very Respectfully yours &c
Robt L Adams
Capt. R [Troop?}
