July 26, 1865.
Dear Sir
your note of this date, asking my opinion as to your political course for twenty years, is just recieved, and I hasten to reply.
On my Setling in Macon early in 1844, found you an active Democrat, you remained So until early in 1851, when you became a leader, or The leader, of The Union party here, you remained So until you went into business about october 1856, and then was regarted a consistent union Man.
