Jackson Miss. June 11th, 1864,
His Excellency.
Charles Clark,
Dear Sir,
At the request of my friend Dr, J, M, Trotter, I write you these lines. Dr Trotter informs me that he had some communication with you, recently in reguard to a plan for the education of the orphan children of deceased soldiers, which is a very laudable and praisworthy enterprize and I hope will be fully consumated. I have been acquainted with Dr. Trotter for several years, and I know of no one more suitable to render good and eficient service in such an enterprize, His good sense, energy of character and his known ability as a public speaker eminently qualify him as a sucessful advocate in this cause, before the ^[people?]^ and I hope that his valuable services may be [strikethrough] in [strikethrough] inlisted in its behalf, feeling assured that any confidence reposed in him will not be misplaced
I remain yours truly
Jo, Bell
P. S. Please write to Dr Trotter whom this subject at your earliest convienence, at Crystal Springs Miss.
