Dear Sir
I am here on Detail from Co. (F) 1st" Regt Miss. State troops to arrest and bring to Camp all absentees who are absent without Leave—I find to My Surprise that Publick Sentiment in this place Encourages desertion from the state troops. and Civil officers are very Inefficient in arresting Parties. hence their obstinency. and harsh measures will have to be applyed. I Contend that all Should be Carried back without favor or affection. and I am willing to do my Part in accomplishing that End
I would be pleased to have your oppinion on the mater. at your Earliest Conven-
